John Baza, director of the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining, has received a national award recognizing him for his work in the regulatory arena over oil and gas.

Baza received the E.W. Marland Award from the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission for his years of service and commitment during a ceremony on Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The annual E.W. Marland Award was established in 1994 to recognize an outstanding state regulator. E.W. Marland was a U.S. congressman, the 10th governor of Oklahoma, and is considered the father of the compact commission.
